Language, Learning & Beyond at the Swain Center Success Stories

"My 2 year old has been coming here for almost a year and the difference in her speech has been incredible. As a first time mom I’m not familiar with what is normal and am always second guessing my parenting. We came her to develop her speech, but through the amazing therapists we also ended up learning a lot about how to support our child through speech and also just in her environment in general. They are all so kind and truly care about the whole person development of the child. My toddler had gone from hardly speaking and not finishing words to a fully confident communicator! I love the work they do for families and highly recommend them to any child that needs a little extra support!"

"Wonderful listening therapy experience for our entire family. Staff is gentle, patient and really know how to work with children on the autism spectrum. Would recommend them overwhelmingly to families dealing with hearing sensitivities and speech and language areas of concern. Dr. Swain is a remarkable professional and really knows how to tap into the challenges and help remedy them. Also loved the testing by Dr. Swain to pinpoint our areas of strengths and weaknesses. Well worth the time and money we invested."

"Tiny Talkers, the Swain Center, and all their therapists have been such a blessing for our two children. Our eldest was diagnosed with Apraxia of Speech at two and a half, after speech delays and severe lack of care from our primary care doctor. When she started Tiny Talkers at two and a half years old, she had no words that were consistent and intelligible by strangers. Tiny Talkers, and others at the Swain Center worked closely with her, and got results within a few months. They gave her an individualized learning plan that was tailored to her strengths and needs, and equally importantly, gave us as parents the tools and training to be effective therapists at home. Through lot's of hard work, our eldest is now at effectively age appropriate speech development, under a year later. "

"My daughter has autism, for three years she has received speech and language services, she has also been in the Lets Adapt group and in Tomatis (listening center) with these programs my daughter has made a lot of progress but the most important thing is that she is happy every time he has to go. I am very grateful to all the staff from reception, therapists and lindsay Larro who are concerned about the progress of my daughter."

"Our grandson reached his third birthday last December only being able to say a few words with apraxia suspected. He started at the Swain Center two months ago with one private session a week with Michelle and is now going twice a week to work with her as well as attending Tiny Talkers sessions. The results have been amazing, every week he has new words and he is able to put two or three words together to form a thought or expression. The newest word is “why?” which he uses with great abandon and complete sincerity! We and his parents are delighted to see this progress. The entire team at Swain Center has been wonderful- not only are they encouraging but we have all learned a lot about how to help and coach our little grandson. Michelle is patient and kind and makes the sessions fun. I was a bit concerned initially that such an intensive program would push him into stubborn resistance but he is happy to go to “speech” several times a week and is thriving. We could not recommend the Swain Center more highly and are very grateful for their program."

"The Swain Center has been foundational in my Childs developmental needs. Dr. Swain, and the therapists are absolutely 100% heart for kids. My child has been a consistent client attending the Swain Center Let's Adapt program for several years. This is a safe, structured and nurturing environment for children. Michelle, one of the therapists is my hero, she works hard to meet kids where they are at. She makes hard things fun for kids. She is stellar in her ability to handle social conflicts and encourages respect and kindness which creates a much needed safe haven for kids who need to be seen and heard. My child has many challenges and extra needs and our family has been nothing but supported. I love that after every group session the therapists come out to talk with parents on what they were teaching for the day and how children in the class were responding to the lesson. "
